Maintenance and storage of tents & construction in harsh environments

If you set up a tent under bad terrain
1. Slope
Here is a situation that is often encountered in climbing climbing routes. Under normal circumstances, it is still possible to find a sloping flat land on a slope (if you can’t find it, please refer to the third and fourth items). The key is that the friction between the sleeping bag and the moisture-proof mat is small when you sleep at night, and people will slide down. It is impossible to fall asleep when the slope is steep.
adapting methods:
a. When two people set up a tent, choose to camp under the tent with two trees close together. If you don’t move two big rocks underneath, put your backpack between the trees or rocks so that your head faces when you sleep at night. on
b. If it is better solved by one person, when you choose to camp, the side of the tent should be leaning against a tree or stone, and the backpack should be placed between the tree or stone, so that the whole weight of the person is placed on the side of the backpack, and the person can sleep on the side alternately at night. Ensure a better sleep effect.

2. The tent pole is not there
This possibility is that the tent and tent poles are opened separately. Sometimes they are not brought, and sometimes the players with the tent and the players with the tent pole are scattered, and the most common is that the tent pole is broken and damaged. To be clear, the tent pole is actually a pole that supports several pieces of cloth. If you are not camping in snowy mountains or windy weather, the strength requirements will not be very large, so it is easier to find alternatives in the wild. The bamboo is tough and strong. If you can’t find it, use a knife to cut a wooden branch that is about the same length and thin. The principle is to look for new branches and not old branches, and wet branches and not dry branches. Such branches have greater toughness. . I added that I saw another post that introduced one of the methods to prevent lightning strikes in the wild is to set up a metal tent pole and insert it about ten meters away from the tent as a lightning rod. Obviously, the only way to camp at this time is to use branches instead of accounts. The canopy rod is up.

3. The area of the campsite is too small (of course it is smaller than the area of the bottom of the tent) or there are too many rocks at the bottom to clean up. This situation is more complicated and should be used flexibly according to the geographical situation at the time.
a. If the bottom is not flat, and there is no thick mat, it is easy to pierce the bottom of the bad debt. Under normal circumstances, you can find dead grass or leaves to spread to the bottom and fill it.
b. If the camping area is too small and cannot be cleaned up, there is no other way but to open the tent and sleep somewhere flat. The key is not to hang the bottom of the tent to avoid crushing the bottom cloth.
c. This kind of situation is quite special. Once I camped on the top of a mountain, I found a piece of flat ground when I looked around. A big boulder protruded from the middle. I dug it with a knife and rooted underneath. I couldn't do it. I had to sleep. Obviously, if the tent is directly pressed on the stone, the hanging cloth can be easily torn. The method is to tighten the tent pole as much as possible when supporting the tent. You can even find a few stones to press the tent pole to make it bend more. The result is that the cloth at the bottom of the account is not stretched and is relatively loose. The back cloth will not collapse tightly on the stone below. When I was sleeping with my companion, the stone was in the middle, and they all slept sideways, huh. Of course, if the degree of curvature is too large and you are afraid of breaking the tent pole, you can use branches as above.

4. Stone cracks, caves, and rocky hills
This is an extremely bad situation, which means that there is no place to camp. The tent is used for what purpose, the first is of course to prevent rain, if there is no rain, can we not camp, then there is the second, it has a certain warmth, well, if your sleeping bag can meet the temperature requirements, then we Why do you have to camp and just sleep like this, of course, sometimes there are bugs harassed, so bear with it if it is not serious. If the weather conditions are also extremely bad, oh, you have encountered any bad luck, you can only use the last trick! First, wrap the moisture-proof pad and sleeping bag in the inner account. Of course, keep the space inside as large as possible. Put clothes or some items on the top of the head to support the cloth on the head for easy breathing. Then cover the outer account. Well, a rainproof, warm, and insect-proof nest is built.
Of course, the most important thing is to make the plan as detailed as possible for each trip. The water sources, campsites, and the number of team members must be carefully consider
